There is a steady drip of gallows humour throughout Pat Flynn’s works. His Smoke Series explores the relationship between nature and commodity. The imagery in the series moves between joyous inhalation and the threat of collapse.

These works reflect on desire, in which nature and the elements are drawn towards tokens of consumer society; they exploit clichés and meaningless societal gestures.

Starting out as a sculptor, he turned to 3D modeling as an extension of his multidimensional thinking, using this series to build the ephemeral movement of smoke through Fluid Dynamics
