‘Bamba’ is a print edition of ‘Samba,’ a 3m x 2m tapestry made for the British Textile Biennial.

Jamie continues to make visible the impact the industrial revolution has had on establishing new cultures, exploring the heritage of football and the terrace culture that has emerged since the league was founded in 1888 by mill, factory and dock workers in the North and Midlands of England. A story textiles that extends as the great grandchildren of weavers, wefters and warpers, roamed Europe, stealing clothes and bringing them back to their home towns in a working class version of ‘The Grand Tour.’ 


‘Bamba/Samba’ refers to the migration of language and identity carried in adidas trainers, that has now come full circle in the Spezial range that sees kids in Milan now wearing trainers that memorialise people and places from Lancashire, where the league was birthed.
